Physical Standards for the National Defence Academy Examination (II) NDA & NA Exam II
For National Defence Academy entrance to National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (II), 2014, candidates must be physically fit according to NDA physical criteria as outlined in Appendix – IV.
A candidate who has resigned or been dismissed from any of the Armed Forces’ NDA II training institutions due to disciplinary reasons is unable to apply.
Physical Requirements for Admission to the National Defence Academy (NDA).
Candidates must be fit and able according to the physical requirements. The following are the guidelines for doing so.
Following that, a number of qualified individuals are turned down due to medical concerns. Candidates are recommended to have themselves medically evaluated prior to completing their NDA II Online applications 2014 in order to prevent disappointment at the final stage.
Candidates are also urged to correct minor flaws or diseases to expedite the completion of the medical examination at the Military Hospital after being recommended at the SSB.
The following are a some of the more frequent defects/ailments:
- Wax ( Ears ).
- Nasal Septum Deviation
- Phimosis / Hydrocele
- Overweight / Underweight
- Chest that is too small.
- Piles.
- Gynaecomastia.
- Tonsillitis.
- Varicocele.
Tattoos –
Permanent body tattoos are only allowed on the inside face of the forearm, from the inside of the elbow to the wrist, and on the reverse side of the palm / back (dorsal) side of the hand / wrist. Permanent body tattoos on any other region of the body will exclude candidates from further consideration. On a case-by-case basis, tribes with tattoo marks on the face or body as per their current customs and traditions would be tolerated. For such circumstances, the Comdt Selection Centre shall be the appropriate authority.
Civilian applicants for all forms of Union Public Service Commission in the Armed Forces will be entitled to out-patient care from service sources at no cost to them if they experience injuries or catch diseases during the course of their training.
The Chest Size for NDA
It’s important to have a well-developed chest. The chest should not be less than 81 cms when fully expanded. After complete inspiration, the minimum range of expansion should be 5 cms. The tape will be adjusted such that the lower edge of the tape touches the nipple in front and the higher section of the tape touches the lower angle of the shoulder blades behind. A chest X-ray is required and will be conducted to rule out any chest diseases.
There should be no abnormal bone or joint growth or impairment of function :
A applicant should be able to read a vision chart from a distance. With or without glasses, 6/6 in the better eye and 6/9 in the poorer eye. Myopia should not exceed 2.5 diopters, and hypermetropia should not exceed 3.5 diopters, including astigmatism. To rule out any eye illness, an opthalmoscope will be used to examine the inside of the eye. A candidate’s binocular vision must be good. For the Army, the colour vision standard will be (CPIII). A candidate should be able to distinguish between red and green. Candidates must provide certifications stating that neither he nor any member of his family has ever suffered from congenital night blindness. Candidates who have undergone Radial Keratotomy or have proof of having done so.
